Search for dispositions (research)

You can request a search at ZTR for the testamentary dispositions of a deceased person.

In order to carry out your research, ZTR requires the following details and documents:

  • Your full billing and delivery address.
  • An official death certificate issued by a competent authority: An extract for the deceased person with registration of death from the Swiss Civil Register Infostar (Infostar forms 2.2.1, 2.2.2, 2.80, 7.3 or 7.4) or a foreign civil register.
  • The Register of Testaments accepts clearly legible death certificates in German, French, Italian, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch. Death certificates in any other language must be translated into one of the four languages used in the register (German, French, Italian or English).
  • Communication of other personal data for the deceased person if necessary (e.g. previous names, last home address).

All information and the official death certificate can be sent to us via the contact form or by post.

Advance payment of costs

Upon receipt of the research request, you will receive an invoice from ZTR. Your order will not be fulfilled until the invoice amount has been credited to our bank account.

Research result

The original copy of the research result is sent by post, with delivery by email also available on request.

Certification with apostille

Some countries, such as Spain, require research results to be certified. ZTR can engage a notary to obtain the apostille for you. The associated costs will also be invoiced in advance.
